Congratulations to my clarinet student, Carolyn, who won a spot as a Senior Soloist in the Cleveland Heights High School concerto competition. Great job, kid! She has studied with me for about four years. This must be her fifth, I think.
Robert Rollin on Il Trovatore, clevelandclassical.com: “Later the wonderful timbre of women’s chorus intermingled with the excited voices of Manrico and Count Luna locked in combat and provided some of the opera’s best moments.”
I was invited back to sing with Opera Circle in the chorus for their performance of Il Trovatore. There's not much for the ladies to sing, but it's fun, anyway. Peformances are at the end of February: http://www.operacircle.org
I was in the chorus for this opera, King Roger, with Opera Circle at the end of October, 2011. Here are two reviews about it. One by Mr. Donald Rosenberg:

At the first rehearsal, I volunteered to do second soprano. I'm not used to singing the inner parts, but I think because I play musical instruments, too, I read the second soprano part pretty easily. What I have to work on is the Polish pronunciations!! It was fun to join in. Thank you Opera Circle :)
Trying out different titles for my 8 minute clarinet piece.
